About the workshop🔗

The workshop will be held in Tromsø, Norway

It will take place at UiT, The Arctic University of Norway. The conference will start on Monday the 05.06.2023 at 9.00am and will terminate on Thursday the 08.06.2023 at 6.00pm. The event is structured as a series of invited presentations, a few contributed presentations, a poster session and a series of afternoon tutorials ranging from the theoretical foundations of numerical methods to practical applications, which we believe will be of interest for PhD students and young researchers. The program will be available shortly on our website.

To keep the conference as affordable as possible, we will not ask for conference fees and we will provide lunch for all participants during the four days of the conference. To promote participation for undergraduate and graduate students, we will offer a limited number of student accommodations free of charge, on a first-come-first-served basis.

About Tromsø🔗

Tromsø is principally located on island Tromsøya an during the years it is enlarged on the coasts around. The University is in the northern part of the island and close to the Hospital. This make the UIT easy reachable from different directions with public transport.

Travelling to/from Tromsø🔗

Tromsø has a local airport (TOS) which is connected to Oslo Gardemoen (OSL) with several flights every day. Lately several longer distance connection have been established (Stockholm, Munich, Zurich, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, etc..) but they are generally limited to once/twice a week. Most of them are on Saturdays.

Local Transport🔗

City buses from the centre to the university campus are frequent. Walking from the centre to campus is also an option (it takes about 30-45min). For bus tickets we recommend you to install the "Troms billett" app on your phone. Tickets bought on buses are more expensive.

Medical information🔗

Norway is part of the European Economic Area and emergency health assistance is provided to all EEA residents. Participants residents in non EEA countries are encouraged to have a travel insurance to cover medical expenses. If you suffer for chronic diseases that require specific prescriptions, you should bring all necessary medicaments with you.

Accommodation🔗

Accommodation in Tromsø can be expensive and we recommend you make your own arrangements in due time. There are several hotels downtown and even one close to campus (Pingvinhotellet). Prices range between 800NOK and 2000NOK per night.

For undergraduate and graduate students, there is also the possibility to reserve a room in the UiT guesthouse. The organization will have the possibility to pay for a few rooms, on a first-come-first-served basis. If you wish to take advantage of this opportunity please contact us.

Money🔗

The local currncy is the Norwegian crown (NOK). In practically all shops/bars/hotels/restaurants you can easily pay with Credit Card. Should you need cash you can exchange it at RIA Money Transfer, located is in Storgata 32.
